1. This monsters color and stats will vary with how advanced you are in the game.

Hint: Train Pheonix:
Successfully complete the game and save it once the credits are done. Then, reload your game. Two weeks after you completed the game, a feather from Suzaku is left behind. He asks you to train a Pheonix, and tells you that the feather allows you to revive a Pheonix from a disc. From this point on you can revive Pheonix monsters.
Sraptor826.

Hint: Adventure + mode:
Successfully complete the game. Once done, wait three weeks. After the third week you will get a visit from Mr. Karnab. He informs you that new passageways have opened in the ruins that you have. Go to adventure and press Right or Left to switch from normal adventure to Adventure +. Adventure + is much harder then normal adventure. All the wild monsters are "S" rank, and the ruins have many levels (about 10). Of course, the items are much better in Adventure +.
Sraptor826.

Hint: Easy wins:
A very easy way to go through the storyline quickly is to get a monster dedicated to Power and Accuracy, Train it in Power and Accuracy mostly, but have all its other stats at level 10. The power and accuracy easily raise to level 20 to 30. Most monsters through E, D, C, B, and A classes will not be able to dodge your attacks, and they will be KOed in one to two moves. This works well against Bosses and in dungeons, since they attack rarely which leaves them wide open for quick attacks that will do devastating damage. Having 700 Power and Accuracy makes the final Boss very easy to defeat in both forms. Note: Monsters such as Bleakons are perfect for this, since their Power and Accuracy are raised quickly and easily.
Sraptor826.

Hint: Easy training:
If you have a new monster that has trouble in adventures, use this trick to get it leveled up faster. Go to an adventure, it does not matter where. Make sure you have a powerful monster in your party. Battle an enemy, and instead of KOing them with the powerful monster, weaken them so that they only have a sliver of life renamining. Then, switch with your weaker monster and allow it to finish the monster. The experience will be rewarded mostly to the weaker monster. This is an easy way to give it experience and allow it to gain new attacks and abilities.
Sraptor826.

Hint: Delete your monster:
if you happen to accidentally get a monster you do not want (usually by pressing X too fast when regenerating monsters), you can get rid of it for good. When you go to the association and select "Retire", the lady will ask you if you want to freeze it. Tell her "No". She will then ask if you want to retire it. Tell her "Yes". It will not use up a spot in your freezer and you will get rid of an unwanted monster.
Leded.

Hint: Get rid of unwanted traits:
When you fill up the traits on your monster's data you can get rid of unwanted traits like Genius. To do so, level up until you get another trait. You will be asked if you want to delete a trait to make room for a new one.
Nickswill.

Hint: Increased monster stats:
It seems that a monster that you use directly from a CD or DVD has better stats than one that you use from the book.
Leded.

Hint: Rare vs. common monsters:
Rare monsters seem to be lot better when you first look at their stats. However, there are a few things to think about. Rare monsters have a tendency to die sooner than common monsters. Rare monsters also have a tendency to get irritated easily, more so than common monsters. Rare monsters, unlike common ones, seem to only train well at the things they start off well at; common ones can do well at almost any training gadget. Rare monsters are not much better than common ones. For example, raise a Joker and a Ghars. The Ghars will only train well at Speed, Accuracy and Intelligence. The Joker will train well at everything and live longer.
Hoopdreams00.

Hint: Power Rangers reference:
When you are able to go to the Association, do so and freeze your current monster (select "Retire"). You will be sent to the shrine after your monster is frozen to get a new one. When you have to switch discs, leave the Monster Rancher 4 disc. The game will ask if you want to use the Monster Rancher 4 disc. Select "Yes". Before the reviving movie starts, the reviving person will tell you about Pandora discs. The monster you get is an Antler that resembles a Power Ranger, but without the shade. Take it home and look at the page you have for that monster. Read the information section and it will mention that it is a ranger. This must be done at the beginning of the game. Additionally, it does not really matter what rank you or monster are at when you do this. However, try checking the Monster Rancher 4 disc after you complete each rank. When your rank goes up, the Antler type changes but it is still the same monster, just a different color. After you revive it, you will get the page for that monster.
Ega435.

Monster Rancher 3

Hint: Skip animations:
After selecting the type of training (for example, trampoline in Morx Forest), rapidly press X to skip the animations for the drill. . It does nothing to the success or failure of the monster.
nlrbfd.

Hint: Control preview screen:
At the menu starting with "Training", press Square. Go to the encyclopedia, and choose a random monster. At the information page of the selected monster, press Square and the monster's image will go to the center of the screen. Everything else will disappear. Pressing Square, Circle, X, R1, and R2 will make the monster do some random action. For example, pressing Circle will make the monster act mad. Moving the Left or Right Analog-stick Right will make the monster thicker, and Left will make it thinner.
Ega435.

Hint: Zan secret monster:
First, you will need a relatively very strong monster -- power, health, and defense vs. magic and physical attacks helps. Train your monster in the Snowy Mountain training area for an extended period of time. After awhile, rivals will begin to say that there has been an odd monster attacking them. Continue to play and you will fight various monster types and eventually figure out Gatoman is attacking. Once this is learned, she will attack once again with various monsters (over an extended period of time). Win these battles, and every time she will say she has to modify her monster. During the final time she will say that a man is making accessories for her. Continue to train and this man will show up, looking much like a scientist -- until his face gets weird and he appears to be psychotic. He will attack you with a black monster that has scythe-like appendages out of its back and two black and red accessories. After you defeat him, you will talk to him and he will give you the accessories after the monster dies. At the end of it all, the scientist will give you a black disk that is imprinted in the center. Bring this to the shrine and the man who revives the monsters will examine the disk and conduct studies. After this point you will be able to revive the new monster type Zan from your disks. He is usually on the disks that say "This is too dangerous" or "I don't know what this is". On a final note, you can get a secret Zan from the Dead Or Alive 2: Hardcore and Tenchu 2: Birth of the Stealth Assassins discs called Izuna.
Danté Antonio Di Pasquale.

Hint: Defeating Joker:
When Kai challenges you to the battle where you fight the Joker, have a monster with the Fast Footwork ability (such as a Hare or someone who just happens to have it). If you manage to get a few hits off and remain unscratched, it still counts as winning. You can now train Jokers. Save the game before you attempt this, so if you lose the fight your monster will not be cut down to only half life and you can repeat as long as desired.
Jonathan Weiterman.

Hint: Save stats:
Andrew Menard.

1. Save before you start.
2. Raise your monster as much as you can before it gets lazy.
3. Save the stats of that monster (just the stats).
4. Load the save all the way at the beggining, and load the stats you had saved.
5. Make your monster stronger and save.
6. Repeat steps 2 through 5 until you get the desired stats.

Hint: Lords:

Morx (forest): Press and perhaps hold R1 to use the overhead cam (or you can skip the overhead if desired). Go outside in front of the tree with the broken tree stump. Go to the left of the trunk until you see a yellow and orange flower. Search it and you will be taken to the lord of Morx.
Ega435.
Kalaragi (jungle): Go to the right lily pad. There is a search spot next to the big water flower on the pad. The lord will appear on some random platform.
Ega435.
Takrama (desert): Walk across the water to where your monster goes when you let it rest. Search the spot, and your monster will fly up to the top. The lord(s) will be up there.
Ega435.
Goat (beach): While the text about the light is going, look to the left of the screen until you see a hole with a big square-like block, smaller rocks on the free sides, and bubbles coming out of it. Go to the rock with sea weed on it and search it. Your monster will fall in, then fly up on to the big rock. The lord will follow after your monster.
Ega435.
Brillia (tundra/ice place): Go up the right ramp. Use the overhead cam to make this easier. Stay near the inside edge until the bottom says that you can go to the other side. Go up to the tree until you can search it. Your monster will jump down and the lord will be there. After you visit him and get back up to the tree, go to the bursting piece of ice to go back down to the starting area

Hint: Training methods:
To succeed in the game you will need to make your monster live long. To do this is quite easy. First, select the monster you want and take them to the ranch. Select a monster which has a long life span or a monster that has a sub breed which has a long life span, such a Pixie/Plant etc. When trying to make your monster live long, stress is the key. The lower the stress, the longer your monster lives. Use this method for monsters to live long -- up to about 8 years old. Note: LD = Light Drill, HD = Hard Drill, ML = Mint Leaf, NO = Nuts Oil, -- = Anything.

Hint: Money with a Sueki Suezo:
If you need money, first go to the shrine and use the Monster Rancher 1 CD. This should result in a Sueki Suezo, a monster with excellent stats, except for speed. Use this monster when battling in a free-for-all. If it wins, you will get money and perhaps an item. Note: This monster lives only for one week. If you need more money, unlock it and battle again.
Information in this section was contributed by SirCyrus4.

Hint: Moves with Suezo/Hare:
If you get a Suezo/Hare, every time that it goes to a training it will learn a new move, unless you have already mastered all the moves from that training area.
Information in this section was contributed by Slyugif.

Hint: Phoenix Feather:
On the first expedition to Kawrea Volcano, if your monster is intelligent enough it will find a Phoenix Feather there.
Information in this section was contributed by Tory Wefler.

Hint: Get a Centaur:
After you complete the Major Four and the Legends Cup, go to the Mandy Errantry. Complete the Errantry you will not fight the monster you chose. However, your monster will return with a spear. Your monster will then go crazy and fight a monster that is a bird from the waist up and horse from the waist down. After the battle is over, go to the town and combine two monsters and use the spear as your secret item.
Information in this section was contributed by DLRichardson.

Hint: Get a Dragon:
Get a monster with a rank of B. You will eventually be invited to a competition. It is a fight against a Dragon. You also may need fame of 80+. Have all of your monster's stats up to at least level 5 or 6, very high speed, and strong techniques. Also, use a stimulant just before the fight. For example, Nageel.
Information in this section was contributed by DarkSlasher2000.

Hint: Get Phoenix again:
Use the following steps to get Phoenix again after it is retired or flies away. Take the disc from the PC game Dune 2000 from Westwood Studios to the shrine and you will receive a Phoenix with higher stats than the original one obtained from the Fire Feather. Note: An original Phoenix has to be obtained before receiving one from the disc. To get an original Phoenix, go on an adventure to Kawrea volcano (pre- or post-eruption). Search the volcano. One of the items that can be found is a Fire Feather. Take it to the lab and use it as a secret ingredient combining any two monsters to get the Phoenix.
Information in this section was contributed by Philip Price.

Other CDs that will unlock a Phoenix at higher stats than the original are Frente-Marvin and Saviour Machine-Legend Part 1.
Information in this section was contributed by James Rhea.

After unlocking a Phoenix with a Fire Feather you can use Shaking The Tree by Peter Gabriel to get another Phoenix which is stronger than the first.
Information in this section was contributed by Matt Ducey.

You can get the Phoenix again by using the CD Brak Presents The Brak Album Starring Brak.
Information in this section was contributed by Ice Lynx.

After unlocking a Phoenix with a Fire Feather you can use Walt Disney's Tarzan Disc 2 to get another Phoenix which is better than the original.
Information in this section was contributed by wilpeter lao.

Hint: Get a Wracky:
Increase your fame up to 100 and defeat the major 4.
Information in this section was contributed by Patamon362.

Hint: Completing the big four tournaments:
Go to the jungle expedition and get at least one Golden Peach (two is recommended), then go to the shrine. Put in the Monster Rancher 1 disc to get a Sueki Suezo that has amazing stats, but only lives for one week. Give the Golden Peach(es) to him. This will increase his life span three to five years per Golden Peach. Work on his speed and it will be easy to advance through the classes and complete the big four tournaments with ease and earn money.
Information in this section was contributed by Slyugif.

Hint: Recommended monsters for beginners:
Information in this section was contributed by Footwings5.

Zuum (either normal, or one with a simple subtype like Hare)
Jell (most subtypes work well)
Mocchi (the one from the Market is good for beginners, unless you can find one with better stats)
Hare (most subtypes work. Usually one from a CD has better stats than the one from the market)
Tiger (normal or simple subtype)
Gaboo (any subtype, usually one from a CD has better stats)
Golem (if you have a big enough house and if you raise it well)
Henger (if you can raise it well)
Worm (any subtype works)
Monol (most subtypes are pretty good if you can raise it right)

Hint: Recommended monsters if raised correctly:
These monsters are usually tough to raise but they can be good if you raise them correctly.
Information in this section was contributed by Footwings5.

Hopper (any type)
Zuum (with complicated subtype, like dragon)
Pixie (any type, but you really have to raise it well if you want it to be good)
Dragon (any type)
Wracky (any type)
Barjarl (any type)
Gali (any type)
Color Pandora (any type)
Mock (can be really good if you raise it the right way)
Metalner (can be very good)
Phoenix (get it to listen to you and it is not as difficult as others)
Mew (slightly tough to raise sometimes)

Hint: Unique monsters with DNA capsules (Japanese version):
Note: This requires the Japanese version of the game. The DNA capsules in the game can create some very unique monsters when used in breeding. The following is a list of the seven capsules and the monsters that they create. These monsters can be created using any two monsters with the correct capsule. These items can be found on any adventure, but you have more chances on the Frozen Mountain.

Monster Rancher 2 hints

Rare monsters

by SirCyrus4

Dragon
If your monster is class b (not higher or lower), he might get invited to an invitational fight on August 2nd. It's a single fight against a Dragon. If you win, you receive the Dragon Tusk. Use this item as a seasoning when combining any two monsters together to get the Dragon.

Centaur
Several years into the game when you have a monster of class B or higher performing the Mandy Desert Errantry, the monster might return having found a Spear. Upon returning, a Centaur will attack your monster. You don't need to win this fight. Use the Spear as a seasoning when combining any two monsters together to get the Centaur.

Beaclon
This one's tough. You need to get a Worm (possibly a pure breed Worm/Worm, which is what I used, but not sure) to live up to 4 years, then on the 4th week of June, so long as the Worm has a loyalty of 80 or above, is rank C or less, and is "very well" meaning that it's completely rested, it will spin itself into a "Cocoon Of Worm", emerging from the cocoon the next week as the Beaclon. This new monster will have the same stats, rank, name, loyalty, etc. of your old worm.

Wracky
Your monster must have a fame of 90 or above during or after the year 1005. Upon winning one (or maybe all) of the big four tournaments, a fan will send you a strange doll that will disappear the next week. The next time a monster dies at the ranch, after the funeral (if you gave it one), instead of returning to town, the Wracky (think Chucky) comes alive and is named by Colt. She named mine Charles.

Golem
Several years into the game, after you've built up a goodly sum of money, you'll begin to be offered a chance to build your house and stable on the 4th week of May. Once you've built up your stable large enough, you can then breed Golems and Bakus.

Durahan
Having reached the monster class of A (no higher or lower), gone on the Parepare expedition and found the Old Sheath (might need to have kept it in your inventory), and heard about the Stolen Swords from the item lady (if i'm recalling who you hear the story from correctly), you will be invited to a special invitational on February, 4th week. The prize is a Double Edged which can be used as a seasoning when combining any two monsters together to get a Durahan.

Baku
Several years into the game after you've built up a goodly sum of money, you'll begin to be offered a chance to build your house and stable on the 4th week of May. Once you've built up your stable large enough, you can then breed Golems and Bakus.

Zilla
Must have a class B or higher monster (and possibly the larger stable) 6 or so years into the game. While starting a Torble Sea Errantry, you will be told of a giant creature sometimes seen during it. Succeed in the Errantry and you will fight a random monster that may now include the Zilla King. Fight and defeat it to get the Zilla Beard. Use this item as a seasoning when combining any two monsters together to get the Zilla.

Bajarl
Several years into the game after you've built up a goodly sum of money, you'll begin to be offered a chance to build your house and stable on the 4th week of May. Once you have finished the last building on your house, you and Colt secretly watch the builder at work. Confronting him, you are given a Pot. Use this item as a seasoning when combining any two monsters together to get the Bajarl. Players of MR1 who have the magic can transfer it over as a special Bajarl breed.

Phoenix
Your monster must visit the Kawrea Volcano Expedition at least twice. The first time, upon reaching the cave, will cause an eruption that frees a Phoenix. The next time you visit the area it will be greatly changed. Find the Fire Feather. Use this item as a seasoning when combining any two monsters together to get the Phoenix.

Ghost
Having had monsters die, you must twice have built up the altar to them when given the chance on the 3rd week of March. Sometime after that when Colt is cleaning the altar, she will find a stick. Use this item as a seasoning when combining any two monsters together to get the Ghost.

Metalner
At least a decade into the game, 1010, on September, 1st week, you will see a UFO. (It's also possible you need to have answered yes about believing in aliens if you got that question at the start of the game.) The third time you see the UFO, it gives you a crystal you need to take to the shrine in town. Take it and the crystal will disappear. You can now get Metalners from CD disks.

Jill
Having found the big footstep during the Torles Mountain Expedition, sometime during a Torles Mountain Errantry with a class B or higher monster you'll be told of a creature wandering around. As a random monster you can fight after succeeding in all 4 Errantries, you fight the Big Hand. From it you get the Big Boots. Use this item as a seasoning when combining any two monsters together to get the Jill.

Joker
Simply find the mask during a Kawrea Volcano Expedition. Use this item as a seasoning when combining any two monsters together to get the Joker.

Undine
Must train a hopper up to class B or higher. The Hopper will occasionally dig up items for its trainer. During one dig, it will cause an old hot springs to erupt, giving you a Slate item you use as a seasoning when combining any two monsters together. This gives you the Undine.

Niton
As with the Undine, when the Hopper has dug up the hot springs, Nitons will then become available for releasing from discs. players of MR1 who have the disc can transfer it over as a special Niton breed.

Mock
A couple years into the game while visiting the items lady, you'll be given some mystery seeds. From them, over the course of several years, a tree will grow. Sometime later, it seems that another tree grows (I thought it was the same one but Colt seemed to think it was another) and it blooms one week then dies the next. Select yes to water it. The next time a monster dies, thus freeing up the slot at the ranch, you should be approached by the Mock. Colt names it for you. She picked Gonzalez for my Mock.

Ducken
Yes, you knew those Diamond Stars from the Jelly Cup would be good for something. Get 5 of them for a Fun Cup, which contains a Quack Doll that your monster will ask for. Before you get the 5th Diamond, you need to get some Strong Glue from the Torles Mountain Expedition so it can be made into the seasoning item to produce the ducken. do not give the Quack Doll to your monster.

Monster Rancher

Note: This game is also titled Monster Farm.

Bonus music track:
Play track two of the game disc in an audio CD player.

Hint: Training the ultimate monster:
First, start with a Grape (Dino/Naga). Work and train the monster in skill and strength only and build those attributes up to 999. Although this may seem difficult, it should only take a short amount of time as building increases strength by 10-16 points and each training mission increases skill by 50-56 points. Once the strength-based Flame Tackle attack is available, your monster will be unstoppable. As an added bonus, this monster also has a long life span.
Information in this section was contributed by CapnDugANT.

Hint: Scribble:
Combine a Magic and a Monol to get a Scribble. Note: At times, this may result in another Magic.
Information in this section was contributed by Cosmic_Cartman.

Get a Monol (or Block) monster and get its fame above 80. Then, keep losing matches until his fame decreases past 40. It will turn into a Scribble monster.
Information in this section was contributed by Eric, The Master Of Codes.

Voltie:
Combine a Tiger as base and Tomcat as sub to get a Voltie.
Information in this section was contributed by Blitz49x.

Ape Monster:
Raise a very smart monster (at least in the 300s) take it to the jungle adventure and go directly to the old king's temple/palace. Have your "smart" monster check it and eventually you will find the magic banana. After getting the magic banana, spoil two monsters and combine them to get the ape monster. Be careful, as it is lazy.
Information in this section was contributed by PLSEDSON.

Dragon Monster:
You would need two Dino, two Naga and one Dragon Tusk. Combine one Dino and one Naga to get one Stinger. Combine one Naga and one Dino to get one Grape. Then, combine the Stinger and Grape and use the item Dragon Tusk. You will get a notorious Red Dragon. Note: To get Dragon Tusk, earn your way up to Grade A battle (Dragon Tusk Tournament), where you will get to fight with one opponent (most probably a dragon as well) to get the prize.
Information in this section was contributed by feng.

White Dragon Jihad:
Use the following trick to breed the most powerful of all dragons, Jihad. Upon getting a Golem, combine the latter with a Red Dragon (not the other way around because it will result in another Golem). You should see the following combination results: ??? = 60% Jihad = 40%. You have now created the most invincible monster amongst the Dragon Class, White Dragon Jihad.
Information in this section was contributed by feng.

Hint: Easy Rover:
Simply do not put in another disc when you go to the shrine.
Information in this section was contributed by ArmorBody.

Hint: Longer life span:
A monster will have a longer life span if you give it less pills. Also, there is a certain food that will increase your monsters life span by a year.
Information in this section was contributed by Eric, The Master Of Codes.

Hint: Spirit:
There is a one in sixteen chance that a deceased monster's spirit will travel to another monster you get from the shrine. A monster that is "possessed" in this way will not live long. However, if you combine it with another monster you may get the Ghost monster.
Information in this section was contributed by Eric, The Master Of Codes.

As the "Years" go by, new items will be available at the item shop. The will be available sooner if you visit the shop often.
Information in this section was contributed by Eric, The Master Of Codes.
